About Cross Reference UK

Independent UK hobby radio reference — amateur, licence-free, and public markers only.

Cross Reference UK is a small UK hobby-radio site: a searchable frequency notebook, a forum, downloads, and the guides we wished existed when we first put a handheld on 2 m.

It is run by Cross Tech Solutions as an independent community project — not Ofcom, not the RSGB, and not a clone of any other scanner wiki. Listings are educational. They can be wrong. They are never a licence.

What you will find here

  • A frequency database aimed at amateur, licence-free, marine markers, public airband information, and broadcast checks.
  • Guides written for this site, in UK English, about lawful listening and how to use a scanner or SDR without collecting other people’s private radio.
  • A forum with regional boards, equipment talk, and Scanning 101.
  • Tools such as an 8.33 kHz converter, a short bandplan crib, and abbreviations.
  • News when we ship something or need to say it in public.
  • Downloads for manuals and software we are happy to point at (CHIRP, SDR#, and similar).

What you will not find

We do not publish emergency-service catalogues, fireground, or private business radio. We do not scrape another site’s table and call it original. We do not tell you to transmit without the correct licence. If that is the hobby you wanted, this is the wrong URL.

Editorial standards

Frequency rows should be heard or taken from a keeper / official public source, with mode, place, and the date they were useful. Guides are original to Cross Reference UK. Forum posts are members’ own words, moderated when they cross the law or the house rules.

The Contributor rank is a thank-you display group with the same permissions as Member. Staff assign it for useful listings and patient help — not for post count.

Advertising

House banners and, where enabled, Google ads may appear for groups that are allowed to see advertisements. Ads are not shown on login, registration, or account screens. The privacy policy covers cookies and third-party scripts.

Contact

Questions about a listing, an account, or the project: contact the team. For on-air arguments, use the forum — we cannot debug a squelch setting by email as fast as another listener in your county can.
