Scotland’s a different listening problem to England — more terrain, longer hops, and a lot of very local boxes. Treat this as a starter conversation, not a master list.
Central Belt
Glasgow / Edinburgh / Forth–Clyde is the busiest amateur VHF/UHF corridor. Learn your nearest GB3/GB7 from ukrepeater.net, note CTCSS or colour code, and leave gaps for mobiles. Height helps; so does getting the antenna away from the kitchen LED PSU.
Highlands & Islands
Coverage is patchier and weather/terrain matter more. If you’re documenting a repeater or a well-known amateur/broadcast listing, include place, council area, mode, and tone. Don’t assume a Central Belt codeplug works in Skye.
How to post usefully
- Amateur / broadcast / clearly public hobby signals only
- Frequency, mode, tone/CC/TG if digital, location, date last heard
- No private service traffic
